2/25/2006 GRADUATION TEST SCREENING

The Graduation folks held their first and much anticipated test screening in Culver City last night. It feels like a long time since we were all on location in Pittsburgh last summer. "Graduation" debuted in front of a recruited audience of mostly teenagers who were pretty absorbed. They returned a very high score, which our exec producer, Jason Blum, said was pretty exceptional. The material they viewed was from a temp color corrected DV tape of digital dailies and it looked passable" if you can believe it. Still, the movie played very well, you could just feel it in the room.

So, this is the place to talk about the Graduation movie. If we will ever hear news about it.

Oh, and btw... the official Graduation website isn't working anymore. I wonder why.... Read that on IMDb and when I tried, it's true. You get redirected to some search page.

Someone was asking if the movie has been scrapped, and then someone posted:
I will have to respectfully leave answering any of those specific questions to the people whose job it is to answer them...which would not be me. And unfortunately, the IMDb board is not the place where that will happen. Sorry guys. But like I said before, the film is alive and well. Things just take time.

So there is hope, is there?

I hadn't seen that one before. Thanks for sharing. Of course the official website is still not working anymore. Guess we'll have to wait who buys it for distribution. They'll probably put up a new site in no time.

LOL! Just watched it. WOW indeed. It's way more comedic than I would have thought. Awesome!!

YouTube videos are a b..., can't download them to your computer. Or at least it's hard. I think Anja mentioned something about how you do it once, gotta dig up that e-mail at some point. I'm gonna give me best at any rate to get this beauty capped, you betcha! Maybe I can find this thing somewhere else in another format.

And it's probably best for me it goes straight to dvd anyway, might be able to get it quicker.

I hear ya, Susanna! Hoping for that too! Depending on when that'll happen, we might even get Graduation faster than any of his theatrical movies being released in Europe or the rest of the world. Well, it's gonna be hard to beat the German March release of Alpha Dog, but I already know I'm not gonna watch it if it only shows dubbed, and God knows when and where I'll be able to find a cinema that shows it without dubbing.

A timely Graduation DVD release might just ferry us all over the long waits for the movies we're still waiting for. And maybe Deb and I have placed the TV guest role bug in Chris's mind enough for him to go and do one before long. I sure hope so!

Sorry you're feeling lousy, Anne. Deb told me last night that it looks like the bug that was trying to get a hold of her has gone away. Looks like she passed it on to you. (Deb, don't do that!!) LOL, that just gave me a good laugh. Gefühl besser. Ah well, I still feel a little sick but the trailer helps a lot to forget it.
And yeah, I too hope, that we'll get Graduation faster than the theatrical movie releases, since we have to wait AGES for them ...
I'll keep my eyes open for any showing of Alpha Dog undubbed around here, which will probably happen in some small, unknown cinema in Stuttgart but that should not be the biggest problem. That way, not many people will come to see it and I'll probably not have so many problems to understand the Original as I would have with a big audience. I might have to watch the dubbed version too, but for this I'd rather wait for the DVD release here to have subtitles. I bet they'd give Chris some stupid German voice and I don't want to get my ears hurt that way. So the Alpha Dog and the Graduation DVD are pretty high on my "DVD's to buy" List.

What if it turns out to be April? Wouldn't that be amazing? We're thinking AD might come out on DVD in April, and we've already got TI opening in theatres and TECB debuting at Tribeca. Looks like April might turn out to be our big month this year.

Of course I'd love to see Graduation come out much sooner than that, but it would be kinda cool to have a blockbuster month for Chris, too. Guess we'll have to wait and see.

Things I love about the trailer:

Tons of Chris --- looks like he's in the movie A LOT.
He gets some action with a gorgeous girl.
That little dance outside the bank.
He looks funny as hell, and very cool too. Except his look is making me have flashbacks of Adam saying, "He called me 'rocker' once."
Riley Smith! Riley Smith!

Man, I hope we get some more news about this really soon. If not, I'm, going to wear out my computer playing that trailer. I'll have to show it to Joe this afternoon. He likes the rocker look.

What do you mean, the trailer? That's strange. It plays fine on both Neo and Bosco for me. Deb, have you tried playing it in PowerDVD, maybe that works. You know, this could actually also be a PAL vs. NTSC problem. I'll look into that, maybe it was PAL coded somehow and you US/Canada guys can't play it that way.

Try downloading it again, I recoded it and it should now be NTSC.

Yeah, sure I could try to make a wallpaper, but we've got the FX interview to work on first, right?

What do you mean, you can't open it? Right-click the link and say "Save target as...". Save it on the hard drive and play it from there.
